Lady Jane Grey: Her Life & Times : Page 1a2

Lady Jane Grey was born between spring and Oct 1537 at her family home of Bradgate Park. Her father was Henry Grey, the marquess of Dorset and his marchioness Frances Brandon. Frances was the daughter of Mary Rose Tudor, making her the granddaugther of Henry VII and the niece of Henry VIII, this would make Lady Jane Henry VIII's great-niece.

Information: Portrait of a young woman, said to be Lady Jane Grey, bust-length, in a black dress with sleeves slashed to reveal white and a white chemise Medium: Oil on panel Size: 8.6 x 7.9 cm (3 3/8 x 3 1/8 in) Origin: English School Century: Late 18th Provenance: Collection of Lady Jane Warwick, 18th Century - Mrs Sarah Adams (née Coker), wife of Mr Simon Adams of Ansty Hall (all according to a label on the reverse). Notes: Sold through Bonhams Auction House, Knightsbridge, May 10, 2005 Found here. Notice that it is very similar to the one next to it. The dress, head piece, the necklace, the pearl earrings are nearly identical, though this version of Jane is much prettier then the other.
